Architecture

Executing an effective IT strategy requires selection and integration of suitable solutions with a clear data and applications architecture to underpin it. It is important that systems are compatible, reliable and well supported. There is often a choice to make between “best of breed” applications, plus integration effort to make them work together, versus integrated suites where there may be some compromise to make on functionality.

A good analogy is that of a jigsaw puzzle. It is important to have the picture of what you are creating in front of you and then to take the pieces from the right box. You can never achieve the goal by randomly taking pieces from the boxes of different puzzles.
